(trumpeter | composer | producer)
Born in Tokyo, Tamamori was immersed in jazz and soul music from a young age, influenced by his father's transition from a professional trumpeter to a jazz concert promoter. Growing up in a musically privileged environment, he had the unique opportunity to receive lessons whenever one of his biggest idols, Freddie Hubbard, visited Japan during his teenage years. In 1988, he earned a scholarship to enroll at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After graduating, he spent two impactful years in New York City as an assistant to Terence Blanchard, a six-time Grammy Award-winning Jazz trumpeter, and film music composer, significantly influencing his composition, performance, and production skills.
Renowned for his expertly crafted trumpet tones reminiscent of Blanchard and Wynton Marsalis, Tamamori's sound is deep, rich, and unparalleled. His versatility extends beyond the trumpet's natural tones, incorporating effects and embracing open improvisation concepts beyond jazz. A creative artist, he collaborates with Japan's top musicians and is a current member of SLY MONGOOSE, a Japanese group embracing Rock, Funk, Reggae, Dub, House - recognized globally, particularly in Europe, as one of the premier instrumental bands.
Currently active as a solo artist both domestically and internationally, Tamamori dedicates himself to researching the melodies of his Yaeyama roots (Okinawa) and creating a magnetic field for cultural exchange and education through music.
